Bike rack choice
There is an imposing architect-designed bike rack in the foreground that complements the building style. Despite the generous locking rings, the rack is not popular, as evidenced by the jam of cycles on the traditional rack just beyond.

Speaking as a fairly serious cyclist, I never leave a bike in those "slot" type racks. All it takes is one clumsy or grumpy person and you end up with a bent wheel.

I've seen an astonishing range of bike rack styles, many of which simply don't get used, due to bent wheel risk (as Markus points out) or just silly design. I know, lets do some abstract car parking designs, and see how popular they are!
ReplyDeleteFor space management I actually rather like the vertical carousel racks, there's some at the Civic Hospital. I can see how they might be a problem for older people, however. They are a bit unwieldy.
gawp: can you provide a picture?
